In support of the agrarian policy drive of the Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led administration in Abia State, a member of the house committee on water resources, who is also the member representating, Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole has attracted the integrated farm giant “Songhai farms” to Abia state.
Songhai farms team on Thursday the 12th day of March 2020, was at the project site for inspection. Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole who conducted them round the area mapped out for the pilot farm project, said he took the initiative of bringing the farm giants to his state through the house committee on water resources, because of the many benefits of a Songhai farm project. The legislator who is popularly called “Mr. Project”, said the integrated farm project has the capacity of employing over 100,000 Abians when in full operation.
The federal government team was led by Engr. Gerald Osuagwu, Managing Director in a Parastatal of the Federal ministry of water resources while the team from Abia State Government team was led by Chief Israel Amanze, the project manager, Agricultural Development Programme(ADP). The teams from federal and Abia state government are the relevant stakeholders required for the establishment of Songhai farms project. The project team said Abia was chosen amongst other states because of its existing favourable framework already laid down through it’s government policies on Agriculture. The project execution will take off immediately.
