WE ARE COMMITED TO THE ACTUALISATION OF ENYIMBA ECONOMIC CITY – GOV IKPEAZU

Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that the present administration is ready to make sacrifices that will ensure the actualization of the Enyimba Economic City.

Dr Ikpeazu who gave the assurance during the 4th South East Economic Summit with the theme “Financing South East Economic Development and improving Ease of Doing Business” held at the Base Event Centre, Agulueri Street, lndependent layout, Enugu State, disclosed that apart from developing the South East, the Enyimba Economic City is going to provide over 700 thousand direct job opportunities for the teeming youths.

Rpresented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the governor, explained that in his bid to power the ease of doing business in the state, his administration has done so much especially in the area of establishing the one stop shop situated at the Abia Investment House where every ministry is represented to attend promptly to the needs of investors as well as devised proactive means of quelling the farmers/herdsmen crisis and provide adequate security for residents in the state.

He described the Summit as very timely and apt recognizing the fact that the best way to move the infrastructure is through private public partnership and expressed optimism that with the commitment enthusiasm shown by the South East Governors and stakeholders have so far put in place.

In his remarks, the Governor of Ebonyi State Chief David Umahi represented by his Deputy, Chief Kelechi lgwe commended the South East Region Economic Development company (SEREDEC)for what they have done in encouraging ease of doing business having become the center for the South East development plan and total trust in their ability to achieve their mapped out objectives.

In his presentation, the commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mr Cosmos Ndukwe who disclosed that Abia State is one of the five States that World Bank rated 1st in the Ease of Doing Business which was made possible as a result of the removal of all bottlenecks hindering ease of doing business such as automated the state land registry, setting up of a one stop shop reducing challenges investors have to undergo in terms of transacting business.

Mr Ndukwe pointed out that in trying to boost the state’s economy, the Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu became the chief promoter of made in Abia products through the concept of branding every product manufactured by Aba artisans “made in Enyimba in addition to a consolidated revenue drive devoid of harassment from agents and stated that the energy and power challenge is being addressed through partnership with geometric.

The Summit which featured updates on the Enyimba Economic city presented by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Darl Uzu, update on Gas pipeline by prof Vincent Chukwu Eke as well as remarks, questions and answers from stakeholders and participants including the President Vision Africa Radio, Bishop Sunday Onuoha and the chairman South East Region Economic Development Company (SEREDEC) prof. Bart Nnaji among others.

The Summit which ends today attracted the presence of the special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment Program, Chief Chinenye Nwogu, the permanent secretary, ministry of Lands, Mrs Joy Acho Nwakanma and her ministry of Finance counterpart, Prince FC Udensi, Industrialists, captains of Industry and distinguished personalities from the South East Zone and foreign Investors among others.
