Abia state government has expressed its readiness in completing the ongoing reconstruction of faulks road .
The Honourable Commissioner for Works Abia State, Barr. Bob Chiedozie Ogu made this known in his office in a meeting with top management of Setraco Construction Company.
The Commissioner who expressed displeasure over the failed state of Faulks Road which is being handled by Setraco, noted the importance of Faulks Road to the state as it is the major road that leads to Ariaria International Market and ought to be properly constructed because of the heavy duty trucks that ply on that road daily.
Barr. Bob Chiedozie Ogu, maintained that the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu wants to see that road in a good condition, he charged the contractor to go back to site now the rain has abated. He agreed with the contractor to do rigid pavement technology around Ama-Ikonne and other critical areas to bring a lasting solution to that road, he further directed them to de-silt the drains for easy flow of water, adding that drastic measures will be put in place to stop residents from dumping refuse into the drainage channels.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Setraco Construction Company, Engr Bancord Laurent who led the management team, said, they have not completed the road as being speculated by people.
He stated that Faulks Road was under binder stage as they are yet to do wearing cost on the road which is the completion stage.
Engr Bancord promised to correct those failed areas and de-silt the drainage channels while assuring to use rigid pavement on those critical areas of the road before commencement of wearing.
The meeting attracted the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Implementation, Engr. Uzo Nwankwo, the consultant to the ministry, Engr Anameje and top management staff of Setraco.
