Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has reiterated his administration readiness towards the upliftment of the National Youth Service Corps scheme( NYSC) in various ways.
Governor Ikpeazu stated this in a message to the closing ceremony of 2019 Batch C stream 1 NYSC orientation course for corps members posted to Abia state at the permanent orientation camp, Umunna Bende local government area.
Represented by the secretary to the state government ( SSG) Barr. Chris Ezem, Governor. Ikpeazu noted that through inauguration of the state NYSC governing board it would enable the Corps members to be adequately taken care of no matter where they find themselves in the state.
He urged the corps employers to give the corps members posted to their establishment challenging tasks so as to bring the best out of them as the Nation needs new ideas and innovations that would move the country forward.
Dr. Ikpeazu expressed happiness that the corps members participated actively in the various camp activities and also adopted to the regimented camp life which was a form of training for them, added that Abians are accommodating and resilient as they will confirm it in no distant time.
The Governor advised them to shun unnecessary journeys during their service year as such may jeopardize their lives.
Earlier in a remark the coordinator NYSC Abia state Mrs Bona Fasakin said that the scheme which was established forty six years ago is a pool of the most enlightened class of Nigerian youths who have been brought together from diverse cultures with the purpose of building a viral, strong and indivisible nation.
She enjoined the corps members to accept their posting in good fate as it was done in accordance with the policies of government.
The total of one thousand eight hundred and forty nine corps members participated in the closing ceremony.
