The Honourable Commissioner for Works in Abia State, Barr. Bob Chiedozie Ogu has stated that Government will not compromise standards in any of the ongoing road projects in the State. The Commissioner made this known when he visited the project sites of Ururuka and Aba-Owerri roads respectively being handled by Track Care Construction Company.

The Commissioner expressed worries over the snail pace of work on these roads and charged the contractor to commence asphalting on the areas that have been completed with cement pavement in Aba Owerri road in order to open the road for seamless flow of traffic during the Yuletide season.

According to the Commissioner, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, who has done his own part by mobilizing the contractor, wants these roads to be completed as soon as possible. He reiterated that his administration will not compromise standards in any of the ongoing road projects in the State.

The Commissioner further maintained that going forward, a monitoring team of engineers from the ministry will continually visit project sites to monitor the activities of work done by the contractors on all the roads.
He commended the contractor for the quality of job executed so far.

Earlier in his speech, the Manging Director Track Care Construction Company, Mr Timothy Ihuoma assured the commissioner that he will complete the work from Obikabia junction and Ngwa high school end of Aba Owerri road before the Yuletide season, promising that his men will be on site throughout the festive period to enable them complete the work before the deadline given to them.

Mr Timothy attributed the delay on the work to the torrential rainfall but promised to commence asphalting on the roads now there is a good weather.
